Esterházy Quintett

The denominator and supporter of the ensemble is Prince Antal Esterházy.

Our quintet was founded in the spring 2004 from the artists of the Savaria symphony Orchestra.
The sound world of the quintet – as an instrumental ensemble – has an extraordinarily wide scale. Arising from its chamber-music character, a personal, close atmosphere can be created, the atmospheres of past ages can be cited (as well with Ferenc Farkas’s Old Hungarian Dances), but it is also possible to win a glimpse of the world of the salons of the 18th-19th century. This five instruments are capable of sounding ‘sturdier’ compositions of a bigger volume as well, through the romantic music till the modern pieces intended often – but not in all instances – for the expert ears. We continuously enlarge our repertoire, beginning with the music of the Baroque age through Haydn and Mozart till the music of our days.

We prepare for our appearances with a big enthusiasm, with a regular and meticulous work. We would like to acquaint the Hungarian and international chamber-music as extensively as possible, so besides our own concerts, we kindly act in several kinds of meetings, programmes. From our successful appearances excel the prize of the Lajos Rajter Chamber-music Competition, our concert delivered in the Hungarian Radio, and our appearance in the National Concert Hall with the featuring of the Savaria Symphony Orchestra.

We are sponsored and supported by the CORPUS MUSIC-SELLER AND REPARING SHOP, where we bought our instruments and we make perform their maintenance and repairs.

Playing music is a pleasure for us, above all, this is what encourages us for playing music together. We would like to share this pleasure also with the others.
